Boomer's Story 09

Boomer was on my desk this morning and I keep a raisin container for treats so I opened it up and Boomer dove right in there. When I went to close the lid his feathers started to spike, which means they are mad and he went crazy. He thought he was just going to sit there all day and eat raisins.

He played a lot on my desk this morning and got a lot of head scratches which he has never allowed me to do before. It was really nice and I hope he continues to let me scratch him like that.

I had a hard time getting him to go home. I tried everything; finally the little bugger went in for a peace of fruit. I didn’t think I would ever get him back. He was not even stepping up on my hand, he totally ran away from me, the little bugger.

Chiquita's Story 09

Chiquita has been very loud the past few days. He is practicing his words and is really getting very clear at saying them. I’m shocked, he says “I Love You in Every Way”, the best.

Boomer and Chiquita had a little squabble this morning. Chiquita was in her cage and Boomer was out but was on a ledge near Chiquita’s cage and they tried to fight between the bars.

When either one is out I usually cover the top of the cage with a blanket so no toes get bitten off. That happened to one of my birds, Rascal.

The breeder I got him from, John said that he went on the top of a love birds cage and he bit the toe off, the very next day he did the same thing and got the other toe bitten off. Neither John and Rascal learnt their lesson.

Boomer's Story 08

Boomer was out of his cage this morning. He was very curious this morning thoroughly investigate everything especially on my desk.

When I got to put the dishes in the dishwasher he does this loud squeak, it’s hilarious and without fail he does it every time! He also does this when I turn the water on in the kitchen. We also talk back and forth this way if I’m not in the room.

I tried to give Boomer a bath this morning with the spray bottle but he hated it so I stopped. He prefers to bath in his water dish.

Chiquita's Story 08

Chiquita is picking up some new words really fast. Now he is trying to say her name Chiquita Banana which is really hard for them to say but she’s doing a good job. I’m also just teaching him to say, “kiss kiss” with a kissing noise. In just two day she makes the kissing noise. This bird is beyond intelligent. He’s amazing.

I think Chiquita is trying to nest. He will take up the newspaper and start shredding it and I do think this is nesting behavior. I’m going to have to look more into this. He is starting to mature!

Boomer's Daily Story 07

This little one is just too cute for words. He stuck his head in his water dish this morning again and has spikes on his head. It was really cute.

He helped me type this morning. He was on the keyboard running back and forth. He threw everything he could pick up off my desk this morning and I do mean everything. Usually it’s Chiquita that pulls those stunts.

Chiquita's Daily Story 07

This morning Chiquita was out and I got up to go to the kitchen and Chiquita traveled with me on my head. Usually when I get up he just goes on my head for a bit then when I start walking she flies off but not this time.

He went into the kitchen which was a first, I have a little ledge and he tried to steal a dog treat. He stuck his head in the container. He’s a funny little bugger.

Boomer's Daily Story 06

Boomer is actually well behaved this morning thanks goodness; I can only handle one monster at a time.

I gave Boomer some mash this morning and he got is all over his beak, it was cute. I just love messy beaks. Boomer is mellower then Chiquita but he still has his moments.

I had to cover Boomer’s cage this morning because Chiquita was bugging him but he did not seem to mind. Actually even though Chiquita is bigger Boomer really would take him on given the chance, he is no wimp. He tried to attack one of my dog’s Jack, he will go to the bottom of the cage and egg Jack on.

Boomer makes these quiet little peeps and one high pitch peep when he is calling for me. I just love the little peeps he makes, they are so sweet.

Chiquita's Daily Story 06

Oh my, Chiquita is awful this morning. He is stealing things off my desk, biting my nose, hanging off the back of my computer, hanging off my pictures, trying to take things that he can’t have, hanging off the lamp and bugging Boomer. He is also trying to eat my blinds.

He is also a flying maniac. He’s just going a mile a minute today I can’t keep up with him. He sure has some spunk in him today. Chiquita is also screaming and screeching up a storm.

No matter how bad he is or how much I have to chase him because he has stolen something I have to laugh. That bird is NUTS! He keep things very lively around here. I don’t know what I would do without him.

Boomer's Daily Story 05

This morning I was upstairs having a coffee and when he herd me putting the glass in the dishwasher he started peeping, a high pitch peep. We communicate this way if I’m not in the room. It’s so cute. We do this a lot; he will also do this every time I walk in the room.

He is playing by himself this morning for some reason. Usually he is on my desk but he is playing with his mirror on the top of his cage.

I trained Boomer and Chiquita to go home on command. What I do is say, “Go Home,” and they get a treat. Chiquita goes back right away; Boomer at times can be a bit stubborn. But for the most part it works.

Chiquita's Daily Story 05

Chiquita is out of his cage this morning flying around. He was on top of my computer just hanging there and when ever I would move the mouse he would follow it with his bead, it was pretty funny. He was also very active as usual. He had a screeching fit because he wanted out of his cage so I let him out. He bangs on the cage door with his beak when he wants out sometimes.

He went on my head this morning. Finally for once he did not bite my nose. I’m trying to get him out of the habit of that. It’s hard to tame them to not do things like that but you need patience when you own birds as they require a lot of patience.

Boomer's Daily Story 04

Boomer is pretty mellow this morning compare to Chiquita. He came out and went on my desk for a while and threw everything off including pens, he was grumpy for some reason.

He didn’t want to play ball, just throw things off. He even went back home early. So I have him some mash to get him out of his bad mood and it worked.

Chiquita's Daily Story 04

Chiquita woke up before me this morning. I was laying in bed and I could here, “What are you doing?” then I herd “Good Boy, Good Boy,” over and over so I finally got up and said, “You are not a good boy, mommy was sleeping.” But he just leaped around like crazy because when ever I wake up the animals go nuts because they know they are going to get a raisin.

So I made my coffee and she quieted down of course. She usually does not wake me up in the morning. Once in a while I will get a big scream in the middle of the night. It really scares you to peaces.

Boomer's Daily Story 03

What can I say, this little bird stuck his head in his water dish. That is how he prefers to bath. I have tried everything else but he insists on bathing in his water dish.

Boomer is doing a lot of peeping this morning, I love his little voice. I'm still working on the biting with him. It's going to take some work but I have some plans on how to work with him so we will see how that goes.

I made Boomer and Chiquita some scrambled eggs with whole grain alphabet noodles last night and they loved it. Boomer is a bit more picky then Chiquita but he ate it.

Chiquita's Daily Story 03

Well well, Chiquita is talking up a blast right now. He is out of his cage flying around like crazy. He has so much energy, always on the go, always doing something.

I gave Chiquita a bath this morning. He spread his wings so I could get his pits. He turned around so I could get his back. He likes to be misted down. She goes on her ledge and I have to cover my desk and stero because water goes everywhere. But he had a blast and that's all that counts.

Chiquita is now sitting on my head screaming. She also stole a pen and took off, he is being a little bugger this morning. He's also bugging Boomer, I'm not sure what is up with him this morning but he's more roudy then normal.

Boomer's Daily Story 02

Oh this little bugger is going threw a biting phase. I’m working on this. If I’m typing he will attack and bite my hands. I think this is because I’m not giving him my full attention and he does not like that. I’m doing some research on getting him to stop biting. I have tried lightly blowing on him as this worked in the past with him but this time it’s not working. But we will pull threw it!

Boomer is chattering away right now with Chiquita. I love his little chirps, they are adorable.

Chiquita's Daily Story 02

Last night the little bugger woke me up at 1:30am squawking. I got up and looked and he was fast asleep squawking. If he naps during the day he will talk in her sleep and even practice his words. But he did settle down and I went back to sleep.

Chiquita is very loud this morning and very high strong. I was watching some videos this morning of parrots and this always gets him going.

Chiquita got some apple this morning and that calmed him down a bit but right now he is yelling at the top of his lungs.

Boomer's Daily Story 01

This morning when I woke up Boomer let out this great big peep, it was so cute. If I leave and come back he will peep until I peep back and we do this when I’m upstairs. I think he is just trying to communicate with me that way.

Boomer has a bit of a temper. He uses his toys as punching bags. He gets all riled up and just let’s loose on them. I was watching him do this for a long time this morning, he gets right into it.

If I leave the room for a second he ALWAYS waits for me on the fish tank until I come back in. I always say, “Up Up”, he steps up then I say, “Good Boy,” and I kiss his belly and take him to my computer desk where we play. He throws his balls off the desk and I pick them up.

Chiquita's Daily Story 01

Well today Chiquita went on my head of and on off and on about a billion times. He was full of energy and flying all over the place. He knocked a picture off the wall; he likes to hand on things, the door knob, pictures, ect.

His new word is "What are you doing?" He is starting to say it really clear now. I'm so proud of him.

Chiquita likes to try to get my glasses off while I'm at the computer. He stayed on me most of the morning, we watched a couple of parrot videos
on YouTube and he screamed.

I have to say Chiquita is quite loud most of the time. This morning he strung all of his words together and said, "Up Up, Good Boy, What are you Doing? I Love You in Every Way", right after the other, I was totally shocked. Now that's impressive. He picks things up so fast. I love that bad boy.

About Boomer

Boomer is fully flighted and I will never clip his wings, he is an excellent flyer.

Boomer was abused and neglected. When I first saw this little fellow I new he needed help. He was so frail and dehydrated when I got him. He must have drank a gallon of water. Boomer’s feather conditions were horrible it is a miracle he survived.

I really needed to bulk him up. I got him on a good diet and made him a lot of mash and healthy fatty foods to bulk him up.

Now he is happy healthy and full of energy. It was so sad to think how someone could neglect this poor baby! He is such a sweetie.

Boomer has a bunch of toys on my desk and he plays with them while I'm typing. We play "The Drop it Game." He will drop his toy balls off the desk and look at me all pathetic so of course mommy picks them up. He will do this all day long.

Boomer is now trained to step on my hand when I say "Up Up." He will also let me kiss his belly and snuggle him up a bit. He has come a long way. I will never understand how someone could EVER abuse or neglect this precious precious baby.

About Chiquita Banana

Chiquita is fully flighted and I will never clip her wings, he is an excellent flyer.

Oh boy, Chiquita Banana, what can I say. He is a very strong independent bird. He was not given any attention by his breeder, just to feed and give him water. He was not abused, was in good condition but never handled. So I had a task and I new it.

Chiquita is a pistol, filled with a ton of energy, keeps me on my toes. His favorite thing to do is to steal things. He is my little thief.

Chiquita is VERY loud and bossy. He eats like no tomorrow and I have found no food that he does not like.

He is very stubborn and was very hard to tame but we got there. It's still in the process.

Chiquita says some words, he says, "I Love You in Every Way", "Up Up" "Good Boy", "What are you Doing?" He picks up words SO quickly it's amazing. He will also say, "Weeeee." really loud when he is swinging on his house coat ties, that I have to say is very cute.
